Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen is perhaps best known for his song 'Hallelujah' (most successfully covered by Jeff Buckley). He started out as a novelist in Canada and poet but found songwriting to be more rewarding, both financially and spiritually. His first album, 'Songs Of Leonard Cohen' was released in 1967. It was not until his next album, 'Songs From A Room', that he would achieve the sparse sound with which he is most associated. Other popular albums include 'Songs Of Love And Hate', 'Death of a Ladies' Man', and 'Various Positions'. He is one of the most covered songwriters of the last 50 years. Songs such as 'Bird On The Wire', 'Dance Me To The End Of The Love', and 'I'm Your Man' have all been reinterpreted.

For fans of Leonard Cohen we reommend: Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and Cat Stevens.
